Parsons Brinckerhoff (PB) project leader Arek Sinanian said the Greenhouse Gas Inventory Project was an important first step for any state government serious about reducing their emissions. "Tasmania has led the way in Australia - their Government now has a whole-of-Government benchmark for the 2006-07 year from which they can continue to track their progress. "PB's Climate Change Business unit has set up a central, web-based database and trained departmental staff to capture the necessary statistics about energy use to accurately measure the Government's carbon footprint on an ongoing basis.
