India's installed coal-fired capacity rises

Indian coal-fired power generation capacity climbed by more last year than in 2014, as the country seeks to achieve ambitious electrification targets. Coal-fired capacity rose by 19.5GW last year to over 173GW, data from government agency the Central Electricity Authority (CEA) show. Overall installed capacity stood at around 283GW last month, with coal accounting for more than a 61pc share.
