Aluminium prices on the London Metal Exchange (LME) rose last week in response to economic data in the US, China’s infrastructure spending, and hedging against higher inflation forecasts. The US Commerce Department said on 23 November that orders for US-manufactured capital goods rebounded in October, driven by rising demand for machinery and a range of other equipment, the latest indication of an acceleration in economic growth early in the fourth quarter.
