State-controlled mining company Coal India (CIL) sold only around one-third of the coal it offered in a set of spot auctions on 20-21 October. The frm sold 3.38mn t out of the 9.93mn t it offered in the spot auctions, at a total value of 45.7mn rupees ($685,000), according to electronic commerce and trading services com- pany Mjunction, which carried out the auctions.
