Japan coke imports up for fourth month

Japan’s green petroleum coke imports rose year over year for the fourth straight month, about 18pc higher in March than a year earlier and up almost 50pc from February, according to the finance ministry. March’s 464,082t of imports were still lower than the 548,918t the country purchased in December. Coke imports slumped from that high level in January, at 412,053t, and February, at 312,903t, but both months were double-digit percentages higher than the year-ago period.
