CLEANING THE LINES' FOR BROADBAND OVER POWER LINE [BPL] TECHNOLOGY

In Australia, it remains a practical option. Power line carrier (PLC), broadband over power line (BPL) and radio systems such as mesh-networks, can, however, all be disturbed by failing electrical equipment or incorrectly installed equipment that creates RF emissions (RFI). These emissions can interfere with data throughput and prevent reliable demand response, AMI system operation and other smart grid applications. These are direct, negative impacts from RFI within the distribution network which diminish the payback and benefits of smart grid deployments.
