Chinese bank to cut loans to metal, coal firms

State-controlled Agricultural Bank of China, the countrys third-largest lender, plans to clamp down on loans to sectors hit by overcapacity such as steel, coal and non-ferrous metals. The bank will review its approval process for loans to these sectors and introduce stricter scrutiny of corporate governance, environmental guidelines, production safety and the ability to repay funds.
