Brazil port to handle Votorantim coke, bauxite

Votorantim Metais, the mining arm of Brazilian cement giant Votorantim, signed a three-year agreement with logistics firm Prumo for bauxite and petroleum coke handling at the new A?u port in Rio de Janeiro state. The contract calls for handling 300,000t/yr of bauxite for export and imported coke. The bauxite will come from mines operated by Votorantim Metais in Minas Gerais state, Brazil’s top mining region. The coke will be used at Votorantim’s industrial units. Operations under the contract are scheduled to begin next month.
