Indonesia faces 20pc short-term coal export slump

Indonesia’s new coal export regulations, implemented today following a month-long delay, could result in a 20pc reduction in shipments from this month with as many as 55 mining firms still waiting to receive their permits. The new regulations, which aim to clamp down on illegal coal mining and exports, were initially scheduled to be implemented on 1 September. But they were pushed back by one month after companies faced widespread delays in obtaining permits ahead of the deadline.
