The region that includes Marble Bar and Nullagine is synonymous with mining, isolation and, most importantly, intense sunlight. Marble Bar is known as 'the hottest town in Australia' for good reason. For 161 consecutive days to 20 April 1924, the temperature in the town never dropped below 100 deg F (37.8 deg C). This record still stands after 80 years. Located on the fringe of the Great Sandy 112 kilometres south of Marble Bar. It is one of Australia's most remote towns; the gateway to the Little Sandy Desert and Rudall River National Park. About 100 of the Irrungadi community and locals call Nullagine home.
