USW targets cheap aluminium imports for tariffs

The United Steelworkers union, which represents approximately 80pc of workers in the US primary aluminium industry, on 18 April filed a petition under section 201 of US trade law to reduce the flow of low-priced unwrought primary aluminium imports into the country. If the US International Trade Commission (ITC) determines that imports of primary aluminium have seriously injured American industry, President Barack Obama has 30 days to decide whether or not to administer provisional relief.
