Bukit Asam sells 21pc more coal

Indonesian mining company Bukit Asam recorded a 21pc increase in thermal coal sales in 2012 as Indian and Chinese buyers increasingly looked to the region as a replacement for higher priced South African coal. Bukit Asam posted sales of 16.28mn mt last year, an increase of 21pc year on year, with 2011 volumes at 13.47mn mt. One of the reasons behind the increase was the rise in volumes produced, the company said.
