China plans $720bn infrastructure investment

China will invest 4.7 trillion yuan ($720bn) in transportation in- frastructure over the next three years, the country’s transport ministry said. A notice posted on the ministry’s website outlines an ac- tion plan for 2016-18 jointly issued with China’s main economic planning agency the NDRC. Under the plan, China will focus investment on fve key areas — railways, highways, waterways, airports and urban rail transport.
