Tupras coke testing halts

Turkish buyers of domestic refiner Tupras’ petroleum coke have decided to halt testing and delay using the material, per a request from the Turkish Cement Association. Consumption of domestic coke is still unregulated in Turkey, as Tupras’ 227,000 b/d Izmit refinery is the first to produce coke in the country. The Turkish government restricts imports of high-sulphur petroleum coke imports, but a number of plants have permits allowing them to burn coke of up to around 7.5pc sulphur as long as total emissions remain within allowed limits.
