Power struggle rocks Venezuela as oil price sinks

Venezuela is hurtling towards a constitutional clash between President Nicolas Maduro and the incoming oppositioncontrolled national assembly as sinking oil prices deepen the country’s economic crisis. The government, reeling from 6 December elections that gave the opposition Democratic Union coalition (MUD) a critical two-thirds majority, is maneuvering to emasculate the new assembly before it takes office on 5 January.
