A crude unit turnaround at Valero’s Pembroke refinery in Wales required the 270,000 b/d refinery’s coker to shut down for about eight weeks starting in October. But another crude unit turnaround at the US independent refiner’s 170,000 b/d refinery in McKee, Texas, will likely not affect coke production because there is a second crude unit at that facility, Valero said.
