US manufacturing output contracted in November for the first time since November 2012 amid a sluggish global economy, while a strong US dollar continued to weigh on domestic manufacturers. The US-based Institute for Supply Management (ISM), which surveys manufacturers across 18 industrial segments, reported that manufacturing activity fell to 48.6 from an October reading of 50.1.
