Alcoa wins bid for Ormet’s carbon anodes

Alcoa won an auction to buy 51,840t of carbon anodes at a price of $11mn from bankrupt aluminium producer Ormet. Alcoa will buy 17,086t of carbon anodes from Ormet’s closed aluminium smelter in Hannibal, Ohio, at a price of $252/t, and 34,755t from a warehouse in Baltimore at a price of $194/t, according to filings from the US Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.
