RB CT coal exports hit record high in 2013

Annual coal exports from South Africa’s Richards Bay Coal Terminal (RBCT) climbed to a record high last year, with volumes exceeding 70mn t for the first time. The terminal exported 70.2mn t in 2013, up by 2.8pc from 68.3mn t in 2012. This record follows a stronger monthon- month performance in December, with exports totalling nearly 6.8mn t, up from 6.2mn t in November. Last month’s shipments were almost flat on a year earlier, with just over 6.8mn t exported in December 2012.
