Fuel oil prices are mixed on each coast, with the effects of Hurricane Sandy muted in the short run. Hurricane Sandy’s overall fuel shortage is not likely to dramatically affect the Atlantic coast heavy fuel oil market in the hort run. Fuel oil is mainly used for bunkering, and many vesels are choosing to bunker away from the affected ports. There may be some movements of fuel oil from the US Gulf coast o the Atlantic coast, mainly for emergency bunkering.
