Vandalism and sabotage to oil and gas pipelines continue to threaten the North American energy infrastructure and economy, with six bomb attacks on pipelines in British Columbia alone in 2008.Pipelines straddle much of our international border with more than 100,000 kilometres of pipelines in Canada and nearly a half-million miles of oil and gas pipelines in the U.S. The protection and security of these industry systems is vital, with implications for Canadian industry workers, communities and families.
