From 1Q01 onwards, prices and taxes are based on surveys conducted by the Czech Statistical Office. The prices of oil products are based on information on prices and quantities sold by the network of respondents in the whole Czech Republic. The prices of natural gas and electricity represent the average of the total sales and quantities sold in the whole Czech Republic. The independent Czech Republic originated on 1 January 1993. The prices and taxes listed before 1Q93 are for Czechoslovakia. Certain historical series have been revised by the Czech Administration. Notes submitted by Czech Administration refer to prices and taxes after 1 January 1993. General Tax (VAT): VAT is not contained in the prices and taxes shown for industry and electricity generation and automotive diesel for commercial purposes because it is refunded.
