There is something poetic about the saying "necessity is the mother of invention." People and companies are afraid of the "new" and "different," but when they have their backs to the wall, they tend to be more open to change. The decreasing oil prices are certainly presenting a necessity to the oil industry and, more specifically, to the Canadian oil sands industry.
