The formulae given here should be used carefully. Values of k> 4 should not be used. Values larger than half the number of lifts in a group are inadvisable. Caution must be taken when using mathematical formulae as they can give very authoritative looking results, but which can still be wrong. The graphs show values of k of 2/3 to be most advantageous. If k>4 is permitted then a type of "channelling" algorithm is achieved. Unlike some proprietary systems instead of all the floors being require to be adjacent to each other they can be distributed discretely in the building zone, ie: creating a dynamic sub-sector. A further advantage is the hall call registration panel indicates to the intending passenger the lift to board rather than having to search for it when standing in the lobby. In Part 3, I will show how to simulate hall call allocation traffic designs.
