WET, WET, WET! THE WOES OF THE 2012/13 FOOTBALL SEASON

The weather conditions during 2012 caused severe problems in many parts of the country with rain falling from the summer months onto already saturated surfaces, often resulting in soil structure and soil profiles being compromised. Numerous pitches became unplayable and many games had to be cancelled, a situation which affected both sandy and clay soils alike. The problems encountered also emphasised the effects of reduced maintenance or in some instances a lack of appreciation of the soil types andtheir maintenance requirements.
