U.S. Circuit Court Vacates 2012 Cellulosic Biofuel Volume Requirements under RFS

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia (D.C.) Circuit issued a unanimous ruling January 25 vacating and remanding the 2012 cellulosic-biofuel requirement under the federal Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS-2). However, the court upheld the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) refusal to lower the overall 2012 advanced-biofuel portion under the RFS-2.
