Nutrient Management for Sustainable Seed Yield and Quality of Groundnut under Low Fertile Sandy Soil

GROUNDNUT plants grow vigorously in the early stage; remove fairly large quantities of nutrients from the soil along with high ability to fix atmospheric nitrogen. Thus efficient and timely nutrient management plays a key role in groundnut production.Present investigation was undertaken in farmer's field in split plot design during two summer seasons, to evaluate the effects of using biofertilizer, organic manure sole or in combination with chemical fertilizers on productivity and quality of three irrigated groundnut genotypes viz., ICGV 88464, ICGV 86031 and ICGS (E) 30. Application of conventional rate of chemical fertilizers resulted in the highest germination percentage, plant height, number of branches plant'1, LAI, DMP and yield attributes viz., pod weight plant"1 , shelling percentage, seed yield, seed index, harvest index. Combination of organic and biofertilizers along with 75 or 50 percent of RDF also contributed to increased yield production. Genotype ICGV 88464 was superior than the other two genotypes with most respect to response parameters. However, no significant difference was evident among the genotypes with regard to seed oil and protein.
