The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced April 4 that the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is considering to voluntarily reconsider the 2011 obligation for cellulosic-biofuels under the Renewable Fuels Standard (RFS-2). In January, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit ordered the EPA to vacate the 2012 Renewable Fuel Standard obligation for cellulosic-biofuels. Now, the EPA has implemented the Court’s order and is voluntarily reconsidering the 2011 obligation for cellulosic-biofuels, which is the subject of a separate lawsuit before the Court.
