The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYSDEC) this week rejected applications for two separate gas-fired power plant projects on environmental grounds. NYSDEC said the projects were not compatible with the state’s climate policy framework which includes reducing CO2 emissions by 40 by 2030 and 85 by 2050 compared with 1990 levels.
