Semiconductor manufacturers prepare for the future through R&D and Asian investments,as sales pick up in the industry.

Sales growth in the 226 billion semiconductor market will slow to about 6% this year,compared to an increase of 28% last year,says the Semiconductor Industry Association(SIA;San Jose,CA).However,as excess inventory is absorbed by year-end,higher growth rates will follow through 2008,SIA told attendees at Semicon West,held in San Francisco,earlier this month.SIA predicts semiconductor industry CA6R at 9.8% through 2008,to 309 billion.
