West Hyde Enclosures Ltd is one of the UK's leading manufacturers and distributors of housings and enclosures for electronic equipment. The company is probably best known for its extensive range of mail order, prompt delivery metal and plastic boxes, but the greater part of its business is actually the design and manufacture of bespoke and customised enclosures. Making the best use of modern technology, West Hyde's CADCAM installation has three-dimensional design and modelling software. Designs can be reproduced on screen in scale to show finished shapes and textures. The image can then be easily transmitted via ISDN lines to customers' standard PCs where they can view it, turning it to any angle for full inspection. This alone is a tremendous saving in time and materials because prototypes and models need no longer be built before manufacture is commissioned.
