Human papillomavirus type 27 associated with multiple verruca within a tattoo: REPORT of a case and review of the literature

A 31-year-old otherwise healthy woman presented to dermatology for evaluation of rough, asymptomatic papules on her right lateral ankle localized to a tattoo. These papules began two years after obtaining the tattoo and had been increasing in number. She denied any personal or family history of warts. Human immunodeficiency virus screening and hepatitis panels were negative. She had attempted removal with aggressive washing without resolution of these lesions.
