paraThe two-day IES Light + Seniors Symposium, A Vision for the Future, to be held in Washington, D.C., March 6-7, 2012, will raise awareness of the many issues impacting vision and health for older adults. The goal of the Symposia is to create additional funding for research, accelerate the rate of bringing lighting research into lighting practice, create market opportunities for the lighting industry, and standardize valuable consumer information. It is highlighted when the entire spatial volume, including the door and door frame, are painted the same dark color it robs seniors of their wayfinding ability and sense of self-confidence. IES is aimed to study how energy codes deal with thermal control of the building envelope and heating, ventilating, and air conditioning. The question of how an architect/designer consider their projects to be green design while using dark colors that suck up the light is also addressed./para
