Understanding how horses learn is important, to make working with these animals safer and easier. The first article in this two-part series (Pearson 2015) looked at how horses learn via operant conditioning and classical conditioning. This second article looks at another method by which horses learn - habituation - and includes some practical suggestions on how to modify a horse's behaviour.
