All forms of epidermolysis bullosa (EB) are characterized by skin fragility, and therefore wound healing is a major aim of management in all types of the disease. EB wounds impact adversely on a patient's quality of life, often resulting in considerable pain and time pressures, with costs to the patient, family, carer providers, and society as a whole (Fig.1 ).
