A fuse is a self-acting device that opens the circuit by fusing one of its specially designed and proportional components. Basically, it is a piece of resistance wire placed in a tube and fitted with end caps to contact the fuse holder. The end caps have a typical contact resistance with the fuse holder of 5mΩ and the wire itself also produces a voltage drop. Both of these factors cause heat to be generated.
