An 11-year-old Chinese boy presented with asymptomatic pigmented plaques, macules, and papules on a light brown background affecting the left side of his face and scalp. When the subject was one year old, several white papules had appeared on the left side of his face; these had gradually turned red, brown, and black on a brown background macule. The numbers and sizes of the lesions increased as the boy grew older. He did not receive any treatment other than cryotherapy to a lesion on the temple, which was administered when he was four years old and which caused the lesion to flatten.
