Hess Cuts 2016 Capital Spending by 40

US independent Hess Corp. has announced a further round of cuts in its capital spending for 2016 and plans to allocate a larger percentage of this year's budget to projects outside the US than it did last year. The New York-based oil and gas producer said it plans to spend about $2.4 billion this year on exploration and production. That's about 20 less than initial 2016 capex guidance of $2.9 billion to $3.1 billion issued in October (OD Oct.29'15) and 40 less than its actual 2015 EP capital spending of about $4 billion.
