From airport to road design

The PathPlanner A5 software from Simtra AeroTech, Sweden, is the industry standard for airport design. The company launched the CAD application in 1994 and since then it airport operators and consulting firms have come to rely on the program to design and optimise areas where aircraft and service vehicles park and manoeuvre. Now this simulation technology is also available for urban road design. PathPlanner R3, the current version of Simtra's vehicle turn software, is a CAD based analysis tool that helps assess layout and space requirements for intersections, roundabouts, bus terminals, loading bays, parking facilities, and much more. Aside from technical functionality it contains presentation features, and is an application that functions seamlessly in AutoCAD and MicroStation.
