Amajor reconstruction project is underway to increase the number of special-purpose lanes heading into downtown Houston, in the US state of Texas. By 2008, there will be four managed lanes on the Katy Freeway (Interstate Highway I-10), enabling vehicles with enough passengers to bypass congestion.
