摘要

The accumulation of heavy metals in crops grown in polluted soils poses a possible risk to health. This paper reports the results of a survey of chromium, copper, manganese, cadmium, lead, zinc and iron levels in spring onions, sweet potatoes and aubergines harvested from selected agricultural areas in Malaysia, and soil samples taken from the same regions. The levels found were below the limits permitted by the Malaysian Food Act, so the vegetables should be safe, although small amounts of chromium, cadmium and lead were detected.
