Priming of seeds of soybean cv, SL-295 with water; ethrel (an ethylene releasing compound) @ 100 μg ml~(-1) and CoCl_2 @ 15 μg ml~(-1) was undertaken at room temperature for 4 hours. Primed seeds were used for raising soybean plants, Plants from water primed seeds showed increased height compared with unprimed seeds and other priming treatments. Stem diameter increased with ethrel priming compared with that of control Ethrel and cobalt chloride combination priming increased seed yield per plant dueto increase in number of branches, leaves, flowers and pods compared with those of control.
