Evaluation of some new mixture formulations of insecticides for management of Mango hoppers

Field experiments were conducted to study the bio-efficacy of mixture formulation of thiamethoxam 12.6% + lambda cyhalothrin 9.5% 247 ZC at three different doses (22,27.5 and 33 g a.i./ha), beta-Cyfluthrin 9% + imidacloprid 21% 300 OD at three different doses (75,100 and 125 g a.i./ha) and some individual insecticides viz., thiamethoxam 25 WG @ 25 g a.i./ha, lambda cyhalothrin 4.9 CS @ 15 g a.i./ha, beta-Cyfluthrin 2.5 % SC @ 31 g a.i./ha, imidacloprid 200 SL @ 65 g a.i./ha and buprofezin 25 SC @ 125g a.i./ha. against hopper complex infesting mango c.v Himsagar at the CR farm of Bidhan Chandra Krishi Viswavidyalaya, Gayeshpur, Nadia, West Bengal, India during 2013 and 2014. All the treatments were significantly superior over untreated check. Results of the experiment revealed that the highest reduction in hopper population was recorded in beta-cyfluthrin 9% + imidacloprid 21% 300 OD @ 125 g a.i. /ha treated plants with the maximum yield followed by thiamethoxam 12.6% + lambda cyhalothrin 9.5% 247ZC @33g a.i. /ha. Lambda cyhalothrin 4.9 CS @47.45 g a.i. /ha was the least effective treatment in reducing the hopper population. It was also observed that mixture formulation of thiamethoxaml2.6 + lamdacyhalothrin 9.5%ZC showed lowest LC50 value beingmost toxic to the predator.
