A field experiment was conducted at Jabalpur from 2011-12 to 2012-13 to study the effect of seaweed saps on growth and yield of black gram in sandy loam soil of Kymore plateau. Two foliar sprays were applied at different concentrations of K-sap and G-sap, i.e. (2.5,5.0, 7.5, and 10.0%) along with RDF and 6.25% of K-saps with 50% RDF. Results clearly indicated that K-sap or G-sap @ 10.0% along with RDF exhibit enhancement in plant growth parameters. However in term of yield K-sap @ 10.0% along with RDF gave 30.09 and 20.69% more grain and stover yield, respechvely due to presence of growth promoting hormones (Auxins, Cytokinins, Gibberellins), trace elements, vitamins, amino acids, antibiotics and micronutrients in these saps. Significantly higher protein content in grain (23.95%) was obtained with its application.
