Effect of incorporation of different organic sources on growth and yield of Pusa-Basmati rice (Oryza sativa L.)

A two years field experiment on Pusa-Basmati rice with the objective of finding out the effect of organic sources viz., poultry manure, pig manure, farmyard manure, city compost and rural compost each @10 t/ h including inorganic source (120 kg N+60 kg P2O5+40 kg K20/h)revealed that incorporation of poultry manure resulted in the highest (52.73 and 54.03 q/h) grain yield followed by incorporating pig manure (36.01 and 40.86 q/h) FYM, (33.51 and 40.86 q/h) and city compost (32.56 and36.86 q/h), both the years, whereas rural compost recorded significantly minimum grain yield among all organic sources. However treatment of inorganic sources recorded the highest (53.45 and 56.09 q/h) grain yield and straw yield (55.38 and 59.53 q/h) among all the treatments, which was stastiscally at par to the poultry manure. Higher growth attributes viz. plant height, dry matter (Standing crop biomass), leaf area index (LAI), and crop growth rate (CGR)were worked out under the treatment of poultry manure among all organic sources. However, the treatment of inorganic fertilizers, which had highest growth attributes.
