Genotypic response of sugarcane to whip smut caused by Ustilago scitaminea Sydow

A total of 11 genotypes were tested against whip smut disease under artificial condition in the field. One genotype, i.e. Co 0409 showed resistant reaction to smut, 2 genotypes viz., Co 0415 and CoM O_316 were observed to be moderately resistant whereas 6 genotypes viz., Co 04O_3, CoM O_326, CoSnk O_3632, CoSnk O_3754, Co 0416 and MS O_301 were moderately susceptible. The remaining 2 genotypes were observed to be susceptible to smut disease.
