摘要

The groundwood process has since the upswing during the eighties with the introduction of the PGW-pro-cess, continuously lost its position compared to the TMP-process. Until this recent decade there has been no substantial breakthrough in the grinding process presenting any industrially applicable energy saving solutions. Only in the beginning of 21st century, clear energy efficient process modifications has been reported. Basic research executed at KCL has been the main driving force in these efforts.
