As rational scientists, imbued in cause and effect, most of us do not relate to the universe of fanciful creatures as in the game War Hammer or ultraviolence as in the game Doom. Yet we deal with microworlds, surreal by the standards of daily experience, in which strange inhabitants (enzymes and antibodies) commit acts of destructive ultraviolence to substrates and invaders. The video documentary "Gamer Revolution" relates how the US army is now recruiting heavily from the current gaming generation by sponsoring war games that succeed in converting a high number of the audience from virtual soldiers to real soldiers. Could we use games to convert the gaming generation to the fight against disease by providing them with virtual pharmaceutical arsenals and virtual allegiances with armies of cells from the immune system? The US army has a high budget to keep its games at the cutting edge of interactive technology and featuring the latest military technology, new battlefronts, and tactics. Can we dare to imagine a generation entering our classes knowing the latest advances in the treatments of diabetes, cancer, and genetic disease because they have been fighting these "bad guys" in a virtual world?
