Aspects of Optimization of Mechanical Pulp Bleaching - A Comparison of Alternative Alkali Sources for Hydrogen Peroxide Bleaching

摘要

Constantly increasing cost pressure forces the pulp and paper industry to look into potential cost savings, predominantly in the area of energy and chemicals. The challenge is to optimize production processes while meeting environmental requirements. The purpose of this paper is twofold: first, to revisil known parameters which influence the result of mechanical pulp bleaching with hydrogen peroxide, and second, to show advantages and disadvantages of different alkali sources for hydrogen peroxide activation.
