HCE to develop India as export heavy machinery biz

HYUNDAI Construction Equipment India Pvt Ltd - a fully-owned subsidiary of the 20-billion dollars Hyundai Construction Equipment (HCE), which is part of South Korean chaebol Hyundai (maker of the Santro car in India)- plans to develop India as its export. base for heavy machinery business. The company has invested 300 crore rupees for setting up a 10,000-units a year greenfield production facility in Pune. It manufactures heavy equipment like hydraulic excavators and will be eyeing the Middle East, Europe and African countries as possible overseas markets. It plans to sell around 2,000 units in the domestic market by 2010 and plans to export the rest.
